9th Annual (Real 9th) Fort Logan Honor Tour

National Honor Tour is honored to begin taking names for the correct 9th annual Fort Logan Honor Tour (Mark is bad with math). There is a permanent list which will be posted soon. All heroes buried at Fort Logan receive a live performance of TAPS at their gravesite. Those not buried at Fort Logan will be a part of our roll call which begins with General George Washington. Additionally, we are including some of Fort Logan National Cemetery’s historical figures.

Six years ago I met a trumpet player, the Memorial Day after my dad passed away. Mark Stallins, a Navy man was playing Taps at grave sites at Ft Logan National Cemetery and the music notes could not be ignored. Terry knew I wanted this person to play for daddy, so he went to ask him. Mark was playing for families that had requested him weeks before but he still made time for daddy. I knew then that I wanted to get involved with his non profit, National Honor Tour – Fort Logan not just by donating but actually helping the cause. Finally, after six years I was able to work with Mark and his support staff honoring all who rest at FTLNC. Three days of walking and honoring these heros. Mark is dedicated to keep honoring our heros and keep their memories alive. Buried at Ft Logan are Buffalo Soldiers, Medal of Honor recipient’s and Navajo Code Talkers, so much history that should never be forgotten. Mark played Taps an estimated 270 times over the 3 days. I saw pure exhaustion on Mark’s face, but he wanted to do more. I learned so much over the 30 hours I spent with Mark and I look forward to learning more about the history of these hollowed grounds.
